How to Stay Connected with Your Health Journey

Staying healthy can be a challenging task in a world of endless distractions and temptations. However, by following a few simple steps, you can stay on track and continue to make progress towards your health goals. It's important to set realistic goals for yourself, prioritize your health and wellness, track your progress, and find a support system that can help you stay accountable and motivated. Remember to be kind to yourself and not to beat yourself up if you experience setbacks.

Set Realistic Goals

One of the key aspects to making progress in becoming your HERO and staying healthy and well is setting realistic goals. Goals should be challenging yet achievable in order to maintain motivation. When a goal is overwhelming or unattainable it can lead to frustration and demotivation. On the flipside, if a goal is too easy you sell yourself short of growth and progress.

Prioritize your Health & Wellness

Prioritizing one's health and wellness is so crucial. Making time for exercise, healthy eating, and self-care activities, is a must even if it means rearranging schedules or reducing other commitments. It can be easy to say, "I don't have time for that." When really what is happening is you aren't MAKING time for it. Start with something simple and once you're nailing it build from there. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. This is a work in progress.

Track your Progress

Consistently tracking one's progress, through journaling or apps, is another essential step that provides a sense of achievement and motivation. I highly recommend tracking your progress daily or weekly, depending on the goal. Then monthly or quarterly the overall goal should be evaluated to determine if it is still appropriate or if it needs adjustment.

Find a Support System

Finding a support system that fosters accountability and motivation is also vital to one's success. Surrounding oneself with friends, a group fitness class, or a coach who supports and encourages one's health journey can impact the outcome positively. Determine a cadence for checking in with your support system and stick to it. You won't regret it!

Be Kind When you Experience Setbacks

It's important to note that setbacks and slip-ups are natural parts of the health journey, and progress may not always be linear. Individuals should avoid being hard on themselves and instead focus on getting back on track and continuing to make progress towards their goals.
